If your iPhone gets hot, start by closing your apps. To do this, double-click the Home button and drag apps up and off the screen in the app switcher.
Next, check for app updates and iOS updates. Software updates often include fixes for faulty software that can cause your apps to freeze, malfunction, and cause your iPhone to heat up.
If your apps don't seem to be the reason why your iPhone is heating up, try resetting all settings. This will target corrupted software files that could be overheating your iPhone. This will not delete any data from your iPhone, but will erase all your settings.
