Jess is an independent food historian and editor. Previously she was a cookbook editor at Penguin Random House and a member of the food history team at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. She holds a PhD in American Studies from Harvard University where her research focused on public culinary discourse in twentieth-century America.
