Eating at a Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares restaurant…(14 years later)

As expected not a single restaurant owner chef or waiter followed Ramsay's advice and many of the restaurants that appeared on "Kitchen Nightmares" have since gone under. Several however followed Ramsay's advice and have remained open — some even with the same management. Apparently not all kitchen nightmares end badly! We took a look back at this classic show and compiled a list of the "Kitchen Nightmares" restaurants that are still serving hungry customers to this day and are worth a visit.

This retro-styled restaurant appeared in the first episode of Season 8 of "Kitchen Nightmares." The restaurant was run by two brothers but unfortunately family dramas often got in the way of great food and service. Some of the most notable transgressions Ramsay discovered included expired food and a kitchen so greasy that Ramsay feared the entire restaurant would collapse if an open flame were started. He was also put off by their massive menu which included some unexpected items like coq au van that didn't fit the theme and frankly weren't very good. In his typical profanity-laden fashion Ramsay challenged them to come together for the restaurant.

The brothers took his advice to heart and stuck with most of Ramsay’s suggestions after filming preserving the restaurant’s rich history. Today it’s still a fixture in Astoria serving up plenty of delicious casual fare. The menu is still extensive but the brothers have begun to specialize in the diner fare that diners have come to expect from the restaurant which has been around since 1965. Bel Aire Diner also hosts special events that began in 2020 including live music drag shows and drive-in theaters. If you’re looking for great diner food a fun atmosphere family-friendly events and a kitchen that’s not about to go up in flames Bel Aire is the place to go with over 200 five-star reviews on Yelp.
