The traditional form of pesto which originated in Genoa Italy consists of fresh basil leaves pine nuts Parmesan cheese garlic salt pepper and olive oil. It’s a deliciously simple topping or sauce that’s easy to make at home whether you use it as a refreshing pizza base or toss it as a sauce over al dente pasta (with extra pasta water to help the pesto stick to the starch of course!).
