Imqaret is at the top of my list as it is one of the most loved desserts among the Maltese and is always present in the village festivals celebrated across the Maltese Islands.
These fried filo and date rolls can be smelled from miles away so it’s hard to resist. But it’s worth giving in to temptation.
Make sure to eat them warm and if possible complement them with a refreshing vanilla ice cream or the sweet creamy ice cream made from condensed milk cinnamon nuts and candied peel better known as gelat tan-nanna.
