Big Butler Fair – Lemonade
Growing up my favorite part of the summer was going to the state fair. In my hometown it was the Greeley Stampede. The fair took over our local park and filled the sky with colorful lights. There were all the state fair classics… Ferris wheel bumper cars the totally rigged games you play anyway because you just need that weird hug (I always let my brother play so I could win something).
Besides the rides there was one thing I always tried to experience when I went to the fair – and I'm sure others did too – and that was the food and drinks. Just thinking about the fried treats makes my mouth water; funnel cake fried Oreos or even those breaded corn dogs in weird combinations like Takis or Fruity Pebbles. The drinks were just as popular especially those gallon jugs of sour lemonade.
So you can imagine my surprise as a Westerner when I learned that one of my most recent discoveries came from the neighboring Midwest: the lemon shake-up.
