Beginner cocktails: Moscow Mule
Serious Bites / Two Bites
Today vodka may be the best-selling drink in the bar but back in the 1940s things were very different.
The story goes that in 1941 in an effort to market the then-exotic Russian spirits executives at Heublein teamed up with the owner of the Cock 'n Bull Tavern in Hollywood to create this simple memorable drink consisting of vodka ginger ale and lime juice served over ice in a copper mug. Wildly popular with moviegoers in Los Angeles the Moscow Mule caught on elsewhere and was for a time one of the most popular drinks of the era.
