If you have a webcam that doesn't have software to turn autofocus on and off on your webcam, using the Windows 10 camera app may be an option for you.
Problem: When I use my webcam under Skype or Slack or even Zoom, it constantly refocuses since the autofocus is activated. Disabling autofocus is not easily possible because I can't install lifecam 3.6 software. My webcam is so old that it's only officially supported on Windows 10.
If you go to the Camera app in Windows 10, you can actually enable manual focus so that the autofocus issue can be fixed.
1) open the camera app
2) click the gear icon on the top left to go to settings
3) enable /"pro mode/" so that advanced settings are displayed on your left.
4) On your left, you will now have the possibility to adjust the focus as well as the brightness
5) Move the slider bar to set manual focus.
6) To restore autofocus, move the focus slider all the way down.
Voila… disabled autofocus.
