Quick and easy egg in a hole
Serious Eats / J. Kenji López-Alt
My wife Adriana and I have been using the Baby-led weaning method since our daughter Alicia first became interested in food. Since she sits at the kitchen counter while I cook almost every day of her life that interest developed early. Fortunately even at almost eight months old there was no sign of it stopping.
The premise of Baby-Led Weaning is to simply feed your baby what you eat*. The positives of this approach are extensive. In the long term your baby will develop better gag reflexes (she learns this the first time she tries to stuff a whole green bean down her throat). There are links to improved hand-eye coordination. Your baby will likely have a wider palate as she grows (at eight months her favorite foods are passion fruit roast chicken brie green beans in vinaigrette and pizza). In the short term this means you don’t have to sit at every meal and feed your baby bite by bite. You can enjoy your own food while your baby enjoys hers. And of course you don’t need a food masher food processor or blender.
