For most of my life as a spice hunter I have avoided turmeric even despised it.
Sure I’ve tried. I have yellowed fingers from smokers and stains on my countertops that will never go away. Taste wasn’t a big factor in the equation. But my mind can change. When it comes to food I’m willing to admit I’m wrong if it means a good meal in the end. So in the service of this column and the oft-misunderstood turmeric I set out to find a version of the spice that could change my life.
