Microsoft OneNote lets you copy text from a picture or image. OneNote supports optical character recognition (OCR), which lets you copy text from a picture or image and paste it into your notes or another application, like Word or Outlook, so you can edit the text. Another amazing feature of OneNote and OCR is that image text is searchable!

1) Right click on the image
2) Select Copy text from image (see screenshot below)
3) Click where you want to paste the text
4) CTRL V or right click and paste

How to import a picture into OneNote?

There are several ways.
Method 1 – In OneNote, you can click Insert and then Picture. You can select File, Camera or Online.

Copy text from image that does not appear

According to my test, it can take between 4 and 10 minutes for Copy Image Text to appear when right-clicking. I would suggest that if it doesn't appear after 15 minutes, open OneNote on the web and see if the image is on the page. Also refresh or sync your laptop to your desktop.

There are six versions of OneNote. Here is a list of all versions of OneNote. (As of 01/15/2021)
OneNote for Windows 10
OneNote 2016
OneNote for Mac
OneNote for the web
OneNote for iOS
OneNote for Android

Windows users
OneNote (formerly called "OneNote 2016"), the free desktop app that runs on all supported versions of Microsoft Windows and is part of Office 2019 and Microsoft 365.

OneNote for Windows 10, the OneNote app that comes pre-installed on all editions of Windows 10 and can also be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Store.

The OneNote desktop app on Windows is part of Office 2019 and Microsoft 365, but it can also be downloaded as a standalone app and used independently on any PC. It works on all currently supported versions of Windows, including all editions of Windows 10.

In past years, this app was called "OneNote 2016" (and "OneNote 2013" in previous years). It's now simply called "OneNote."

OneNote for Windows 10
The OneNote app for Windows 10 is already pre-installed and ready to use on all editions of Windows 10, but it can also be downloaded manually for free in the Microsoft Store app.

OneNote for Mac
OneNote for Mac is part of Office 2019 and Microsoft 365, but it can also be downloaded from the Mac App Store and used independently on any Mac with a 64-bit processor running macOS 10.13 or later.

OneNote for Mac offers a full Office ribbon interface that can be permanently displayed or hidden until you need it. When the navigation pane is revealed, it displays colored notebook section tabs vertically on the left side of the screen. The list of page tabs appears immediately to the right of the section tabs.

OneNote for the web
Whenever you don't have access to your OneNote apps on your own computer, you can use OneNote for web from anywhere in the world to easily access all your cloud-based notebooks with any any modern web browser, regardless of the operating system borrowed. or the rented computer or device is running.
