Peach Bourbon BBQ Sauce | How to Make BBQ Sauce | CarnalDish
Serious Mealtimes / Joshua Bousel
The Fourth of July has become more than just a celebration of our independence. As the number one barbecue day of the year it also honors the proud tradition of cooking outdoors over a live fire. No doubt many of us serious eaters will be keeping that fire burning tomorrow but we have a chance to set ourselves apart from the frozen beef patties and undercooked hot dogs that unceremoniously dominate the day. I’ve posted countless recipes for meat sauces and rubs for inspiration but I have one more belated contribution to make your barbecue better than everyone else’s: peach bourbon barbecue sauce.
My problem with fruity BBQ sauces is that they rarely contain actual fruit; often I’ll just add fruit juice to a standard sauce recipe and call it a day. I took on this trend with a mango habanero sauce; it turned out so well that I used the same template to formulate this peach bourbon variation.
