A favorite dessert in our house – simple pear tarte tatin
Have you ever made a tarte tatin? It is a classic French rustic cake that is made as an upside-down cake in a cast iron pan.
You create a caramel base in the bottom of the pan with slices of fruit such as apples pears or quince. Cover again with a pastry crust rolled out dough or puff pastry tucking the edges of the dough into the pan and bake until bubbly and browned then carefully invert onto a serving plate.
The result? A beautifully brown crust with a delicious amount of fruit cooked in a caramel sauce.
