Ask any Philadelphian where their favorite cheesesteak spot is and they're sure to have an answer ready. But most Philadelphians myself included will quickly respond with "But that's not the best sandwich in Philly. If you want the best get a pork roast." It's easy to see why it's a local favorite: A perfectly cooked pork roast is bursting at the seams with thin melt-in-your-mouth slices of juicy pork shoulder garlicky broccoli rabe and sharp provolone all topped with a ladle of savory gravy that drips onto the soft-but-crunchy bread (preferably a Sarcone's roll but I'll get to that later). And don't forget the optional condiments like long hot peppers or roasted red peppers you can throw on top. In my humble South Philly opinion this juicy flavorful mess of a sandwich is better than a cheesesteak.
