Grinding coffee with a hand blender | Tips on how to do it
In our current age of social media rackets trends and gimmicks come and go at a dizzying pace—some are worth trying (see here and here ) others are definitely not. This week’s example in the definitely-not-worth-it category: grinding spices and coffee beans with an immersion blender. The technique involves turning a hand blender upside down and adding a small amount of spices or coffee beans to the bowl-shaped blade guard covering the blade guard with a piece of plastic wrap and then allowing it to grind.
We get that novelty is appealing and the idea that there’s a whole world of untapped potential hiding inside your hand blender is almost exciting. But in the name of science (and for the fun of popping stupid hack bubbles every chance we get) we decided to give it a good old try.
