QWERTY vs. Dvorak vs. Colemak
Here we do a side-by-side comparison between QWERTY, Dvorak, and Colemak keyboard layouts. I wrote a script that generates time-lapses as I type the input text, so the comparisons are set to take 5 frames per key press.

I will leave the decision of the best layout to the user. The hope of this video is to provide an interesting visualization of the work required by different layouts.

QWERTY is a standard keyboard layout and probably what you use if you are unfamiliar with keyboard layout types. It is said to have been designed in the 1870s to prevent typewriters from jamming, although no one is completely sure.

The Dvorak layout is interesting because it is a keyboard layout specifically designed to reduce typing errors, optimize typing speed, and reduce repetitive strain injury.

Colemak has the same goal as Dvorak, although it aims to make the transition from QWERTY easier and tries to preserve some of the most popular keyboard shortcuts.
