Dirty Banana – RUM COFFEE & BANANA!
Popular on many Caribbean islands the classic dirty banana cocktail combines Kahlua rum or another coffee liqueur with banana liqueur in an ice-cold creamy shake. You can add chocolate syrup for a real happy hour sweet treat or kick up the tropical flavor with fresh pineapple. Some recipes call for coconut cream while others add Baileys Irish Cream. Try the basic recipe but feel free to improvise with what you have on hand and improve with additional ingredients to suit your personal preferences.
Banana liqueur isn’t something most people consider a regular fixture in their drinks cabinet so be picky when buying a bottle as many taste cloying and fake. Bols which is based on rum and Giffard which is based on cognac both make good versions and you should be able to find at least one of these brands in a well-stocked liquor store or online.
