Online shopping has certainly made pistachio paste easier to find but it often comes with a hefty price tag. Still the quality and consistency can vary from brand to brand as many of these pastes are unsweetened spreads for a product that more closely resembles peanut butter than the thick sweet almond paste we buy in tubes or tubs (usually a 1:1 mix of slivered almonds and sugar with a little oil).
