Pfeffernüsse – German spice Christmas cookies | Food Wishes
Years ago I organized an annual cookie swap during the holidays at a local nonprofit community center in San Francisco. Friends and community members would gather with large batches of homemade cookies. Everyone would walk around sampling cookies and grab a few of the ones we liked.
Everyone went home with a tin full of cookies and a slightly sugary sweet feeling.
It was a great way to meet new people in the neighborhood and learn about new cookies I didn't know about and that's how I was introduced to the magical pfeffernusse.
