Red Lentil Dahl – Easy Indian Recipe

One of the things I love about red lentils is how quickly they cook. Unlike their more robust brown and green cousins red lentils quickly break down when cooked to a smooth mushy consistency.

If you find yourself craving lentils late in the morning you can easily whip up a portion for lunch.

This recipe for red lentil dal comes from my friend Kerissa Barron who lived and traveled in India for several months. According to Kerissa every region in India has its own version of the Indian staple dal which is essentially lentil soup.
