Onions – What's the Difference?

Although often called “humble” probably because they’re affordable readily available and grown in the ground onions earn serious bragging rights. Whether raw pickled fried roasted or sautéed they’re essential to countless dishes from virtually every cuisine. I’m never without onions in my kitchen.
But when it comes to choosing a type of onion for a particular job as I mentioned in my article on yellow onions vs. white onions I often just pick what I have on hand. I often have red onions on hand because they are just so damn pretty.
