In 2016, three Indian climbers died while attempting to climb Mount Everest. Two of them were abandoned by their guides near the summit. In 2017, the Indian government funded a costly mission to recover their bodies.

More than 300 people have lost their lives on Mount Everest. Should we take considerable risk and expense to remove them, or should they remain where they are as a reminder of the perils of high-altitude mountaineering?
