CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Joe (Gregory Peck) brings Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) home to stay with him, but he doesn't know who she really is.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Audrey Hepburn became a star with this film, in which she plays Princess Anne, tired of protocol and eager to have fun before being mummified by "affairs of state". On a diplomatic visit to Rome, Anne escapes from her royal servants. and walks incognito through the Eternal City. She meets by chance the American journalist Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck), who, recognizing a news item, pretends not to recognize her and offers to give her a guided tour of Rome. Naturally, Joe hopes to get an exclusive interview, while his photographer friend Irving (Eddie Albert) tries to sneak a photo. And just as naturally, Joe falls in love with her. Filmed on location in Rome, Roman Holiday won an Oscar for Hepburn, 24; another Oscar went to screenplay, awarded to Ian McLellan Hunter and John Dighton but actually co-written by blacklisted Dalton Trumbo. It's best to forget the remake of the 1987 TV movie starring Catherine Oxenberg.
