If you've ever had to get your phone repaired, either by mail to the OEM manufacturer or by personally taking it to a repair shop. You have probably been advised to backup your data and perform a factory reset to ensure the safety of your private data.

This can be complicated since not only do you already have to do without your daily driver until it is repaired.
But you also need to reconfigure your phone and restore your backed up data.

This is where Samsung's maintenance mode comes into play.

The goal is to provide a way to keep all your apps, contacts, text messages, photos, and videos on your device without having to worry about repair personnel getting access to them.

The feature was first introduced in the Galaxy S22 series with One UI 5, but has since rolled out to other Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Not only does it prevent another person from accessing your important data. . .but this will also delete all data and user accounts created while the device was in maintenance mode.

To enable this feature, we must first open the Settings app.
Then scroll down a little until you see the Battery & Device Care menu.
And from there you should be able to see the Maintenance Mode feature for supported devices.
Here press the blue Enable button and we should be prompted to restart the smartphone.

Disabling maintenance mode can only be done by the phone owner, as they need to know the PIN/pattern/password of the device.

This would be a cool feature to see on other Android devices and it would be nice if Google added such an option to the main version of AOSP. We could see this happening in the next few years, as Google tends to take its time when developing these features.

But for now, I like the fact that Samsung has taken the initiative and offered such a feature for its Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

I haven't found a list of all devices that support this feature yet. So use the comments section below to comment on which Samsung Galaxy device you have and whether or not you have access to maintenance mode.
