In 2021 her story "How Bootleg Fast Food Conquered Iran" was adapted into "Gastro Obscura: A Food Adventurer's Guide."

Sarra received her bachelor's degree in English and journalism from the University of Georgia in 2014. In 2017 she received her MFA in narrative writing from the University of Georgia.
