Setup/Run WINALDL on Windows 10 Laptop instead of Scan Tool – GM OBD1 Diagnostics – Camaro 3rd Gen

I wanted to use a laptop to connect to my 3rd gen Camaro ECM engine controller. I use an OBD1 scan tool, but this is an alternative that can provide additional data. I purchased an ALDL cable kit from OBD Diagnostics. Running WINALDL presents some challenges with Windows 10. It ultimately works, but there are some configuration challenges. I go through the process of installing the software and configuring the USB serial port and COM port to be able to communicate with the ECM.
