I spent hours trying to solve this problem on my own and there was no good reference online. I checked forums and technical sites. Once I figured it out, I realized there must be something on the internet to help people solve this problem, because it took me forever! If your sound card chipset is on your motherboard and Realtek HD Audio Manager is not working, your motherboard does not support the version of Realtek audio drivers that you just downloaded and installed from from the Realtek website.
You need to go to your motherboard manufacturer's website and get the custom Realtek drivers that they created just for your motherboard and audio chipset. These drivers will work. They will solve your problem. These are the drivers you are looking for.
First you need to get your motherboard name by going to Windows menu, type CMD, which means Command Prompt, type /"wmic baseboard get product/" (motherboard is motherboard), now you have the name of the motherboard.
Copy and paste the motherboard name, go to Google, paste or type it, find the link to your brand website…
Find the audio drivers on the website and download them. If you're just using the audio chipset on your motherboard and that's it, you might be able to just install it and be good to go. I have two sound cards, one on the motherboard and one in the PCI slot. You need to uninstall all the drivers first, then download Realtek HD Audio Manager for the onboard motherboard sound card, and then download the audio drivers/manager for the sound card in the PCI slot (like Sound Blaster), if you have two cards.
