I'm Heidi – This site celebrates cooking and aims to help you incorporate the power of lots of vegetables and whole foods into your daily meals. The recipes you'll find here are vegetarian often vegan and written with the home cook in mind. This site has been my online "home base" for almost twenty years. It was originally built on the premise that once you own over 100 cookbooks (raise your hand!) it's time to stop buying and start cooking. Today I'm participating in the 12 Days of Cookies over at one of my favorite sites Lottie + Doof. It's exciting (and a little intimidating) to follow Dorie and Avery Wittkamp from Marlow & Sons – every day L+D will feature a new cookie recipe (until December 12th). My contribution is these Sparkling Ginger Chip Cookies. They're small bite-sized holiday cookies made with two types of ginger and lots of shaved chocolate. The turbinado sugar crust gives them a little crunch which is a nice contrast to the gooey chocolate (while they're still warm). For those of you who've been visiting my site for a while think of them as the lovechild of the itsy bitsy chocolate chip cookies and the triple ginger cookies. That's what I had in mind when I set out to make them.
