One of the great pleasures of owning a Steam Deck is the ability to revisit or discover and play older PC games. Unfortunately, most of them won't have FSR scaling built in, so if you want a higher frames per second gaming experience, you can only lower the game's quality settings.
However, the Steam Deck, at its Steam OS level, has a built-in FSR that you can use instead to improve the performance of any game that doesn't have native FSR support – remember To run the game in windowed Windows mode, lower the in-game rendering resolution and turn the Steam OS scaling option to FSR.
