Stop iPhone from automatically playing music when you get into your car

I've been facing this problem for a while and never found a setting that really worked. Most directions (on the internet) guided me to the iPhone settings (Settings/Screen Time/Content and Privacy Restrictions/Allowed Apps – /"CarPlay/" OFF) but that didn't work. never fixed the problem and the music was still playing automatically when I got in the car.
So I don't know if my solution is the right one but it works for me and if anyone has the same problem it's worth a try. I even tested this with CarPlay in the ON position and it won't make any difference: the music stays off until you play it yourself.
I have an iPhone 8 and my car is a 2012 BMW 520d with CIC iDrive.
