With the long weekend coming up I thought I’d share this variation of my favorite summer berry crumble. I made it recently to finish off a dinner in honor of my good friend Chanda’s birthday. Blackberries strawberries and cherries cook down into a thick jammy wine-spiced fruit mush beneath a crispy oatmeal-flecked top. It’s the good stuff and ridiculously easy. If you’re going camping I bet you could make a brilliant campfire version in a cast iron Dutch oven. There’s a version in my latest book but I doubled the topping for this one. No one ever complains about too much crumble topping ;)… If you have an abundance of berries this crisp is even better with a scoop of berry swirl ice cream.
