video description

I have the Samsung Galaxy S23 here and in today's video I'm going to show you a free and open source app called Tap, Tap.

#android #googlepixel #samsunggalaxy #androidapp #androidapps

This is an Android app from developer Quinny899 that brings the Google Pixel double tap gesture from Android 12 to any device running Android 7.0 with an accelerometer and gyroscope.

This app can be downloaded from their GitHub page, linked to in the video description below. But I will also provide a mirror for those who want the same version that I use in this video.

Once downloaded, we can load the application like any other APK file.
Once the application is opened, we must follow a simple configuration process.

So we have the basic Double Tap action, which will be activated when we double tap on the back of the phone.
This section will automatically have two actions configured for you, but we can delete them by long-pressing on them and then tapping Delete.

From here we can configure our own action that will occur when the double tap gesture is detected.
Tap Tap has over 50 expanded actions for us to choose from, ranging from launching an app to running a Tasker task.

Similar to Double Tap actions, we also have Triple Tap actions.
It's exactly what it sounds like. . .actions that will only be performed when the app detects three consecutive taps on the back of the phone.

In some cases, users may prefer to remove all double-tap actions and configure only triple-tap actions in order to prevent the app from detecting false positives. I haven't personally noticed this with the double-tap actions on the Galaxy S23 here, but your experience may differ depending on which phone you're using.

There is also a feature in the app called Gates.
It's a way for you to tell the app when to ignore taps on the back of the phone.

By default, taps are ignored and the screen is turned off. . .but you can allow the app to detect these presses by simply disabling this gate.

Some people have noticed that the app detects false positives when typing with the keyboard.
So a door that was added by default to the application is intended for when the keyboard is open.
This door is disabled, however, so if you notice this happening to you, just enter here and activate it.

There are a number of doors you can configure in the Tap Tap app by tapping the Add Door Here button and then scrolling through the options.

If you've ever envied the double-tap gesture of Google Pixel devices since the launch of Android 12, then Tap Tap is a great way to replicate this functionality on all Android devices running version 7.0 or higher. It may take some time to configure your device's sensitivity so that double-tap gestures are detected while eliminating false positives. But the default configuration will probably be sufficient for most people.
