I had just moved into my first apartment in Los Angeles and as a native New Yorker I was determined to take advantage of the beach and the sun. With a renewed desire to improve my health I searched for a replacement for my usual morning meal of lightly toasted bagel and cream cheese. One day after a 6:30am hot yoga class I walked into the smoothie bar next door and saw overnight oats on the menu. It seemed easy enough to make at home and thus began my love affair with oat-based plant-based milks and a bunch of experimental additions.
