Growing up I would often invite myself to dinner at the Silvestri's. Mr. and Mrs. Silvestri had emigrated from Italy and I was friends with their oldest daughter Anna. I fell in love with Mrs. Silvestri's cooking. Her pasta was much better than my mother's spaghetti no offense Mom and I knew that if I happened to be playing with Anna right before dinner I would be invited to stay the night. She made the best pasta sauces I had ever tasted.
Inspired by Mrs. Silvestri I went to culinary school to learn how to make pasta from scratch. The biggest compliment I got about my cooking skills was from Mrs. Silvestri at my parents’ anniversary party where I was doing the catering. To this day I still cook Italian dishes several times a week.
