More than a decade ago I stood in line for nearly an hour at a small Toronto ice cream shop for a scoop of roasted sweet corn ice cream. And when I say I would do it again with the torture of having my kids with me I’m not kidding. That was a long time ago and I’ve never forgotten the incredible taste of that ice cream. And despite being an adept recipe developer my attempts to recreate it have never been enough. The purest essence of that sweet corn captured in rich velvety ice cream was for me the flavor of the decade and perhaps even one of the top 10 flavors of my life.
Since then I have been searching for that sublime roasted sweet corn flavor in other unusual forms. So when I heard all the fuss about Clancy's Roasted Sweet Corn Flavored Popcorn at ALDI I immediately put it on my shopping list only to find out that it wasn't available year round.
