August is a strange month. It’s a transition month from summer to fall even though here in Southern California we don’t really hit fall until October. Kids are back in school and everyone is eating fresh corn and squash at the same time. It’s wild!
This transition is clearly visible when you go to the grocery store. Most fall products aren’t out yet (they don’t start trickling in until the end of the month) but new products are less and less summery. While it’s an awkward time (I can’t think of anything more awkward than the first day of school) Trader Joe’s is still releasing some quality products.
