As someone who is not of Irish descent I don't go out for St. Patrick's Day. I remember locking myself in my apartment during my time in Boston and hearing noisy groups passing by all day and night.
Although I no longer live in a typical Irish city I largely avoid the parades parties and all-day bars in favor of a cozy night in. Sometimes I make soda bread sometimes I gather with a few friends and enjoy beef stew. And while I enjoy a good Guinness I only want it when it’s well-drafted from a trusted pub so I usually stick to Irish whiskey when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around.
