It was about an hour's drive from San Sebastian to the small mountain village that houses the Asador Etxebarri in a stone building. The location is beautiful, beautiful Basque countryside with green, natural and fresh grass.
Chef and owner Victor Arguinzoniz is a master in the art of cooking everything on the fire: he is the king of barbecue in Spain. When you think of barbecue, you often think of steak and meat – and yes, you will get one of the best steaks of your life – but it's so much more than that – you will discover seafood, vegetables and everything, embraced by the smoke and the grill. Chef Victor sources the best ingredients from all over Spain and serves them simply. He even tells me that he cooks in the primitive way. However, he truly masters fire. The food is simple, but as high quality as possible and that's what stands out.
Without a doubt one of the best Spanish dining and dining experiences in the world!
