My weekday lunch routine usually goes something like this: wait until I’m hungry microwave the oldest leftovers in the fridge and gobble down the food like a ravenous badger. It’s not a great system but it’s my system.

There is however at least one day a week that I am frustrated by the lack of leftovers. I am not averse to eating something straight from a can or snacking on cheese and fruit and pretending it is a farmer's lunch but neither option is truly satisfying. Usually the lack of protein hits me again around 4 p.m.
