The best fish sauce for your cooking
The fir eats / Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee
Fish sauce is a staple in many Asian cuisines especially Southeast Asian cuisine. In Vietnam it is combined with lime juice sugar garlic and chili peppers to make a dipping sauce. In my family we use it in place of salted shrimp or other fermented seafood to make an easy kimchi.
Fish sauce is great in stir fries soups marinades salad dressings sauté dishes you name it. It’s also used in pad thai. Made from fermented fish it adds umami and a spicy flavor as an alternative to regular salt. Not sure which one to buy? I’ve tried over a dozen so you don’t have to.
