Wooden spoons are one of the oldest and most basic cooking utensils and a must-have in any kitchen. But just because wooden spoons are simple doesn’t mean they’re all the same. In general the best wooden spoons are made from dense hardwoods like beech maple olive walnut or cherry and are one solid piece that won’t fall apart. Solid wood spoons should be washed by hand as dishwashers can dry them out and cause them to crack or split but they should last for many years with proper care.
