The Best Blueberry Bread Pudding – Food Wishes

Everyone (including those who claim to not be able to cook) should have at least one great foolproof home-style dessert in their repertoire. This amazing blueberry bread pudding recipe is just the thing. Sure you could just stick with ice cream and store-bought cake but this is so easy and works with any seasonal fruit. Why not surprise your guests with something homemade?

There are no secret tips or tricks involved here — just make sure you use a really good loaf of bread and that it is dry when it goes into the custard batter. You can slice a stale loaf and let it air dry overnight or you can use the method I showed in the video which works just fine (as long as you remember to turn the oven off). You’ll know you’ve done it right when you can’t smell the burnt bread after an hour or so.

I really like this with blueberries because they have the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Berries go so well with the sweet custardy batter but almost any other fruit will work. As for toppings a small dollop of whipped cream was nice. But I think a bigger dollop of vanilla ice cream would be even better. Either way I hope you give this a try soon. Enjoy!
