Less Cake Mix In The Box AGAIN?! What Do You Do? | Confetti Cake Recipe
Simple Recipes / Sarah Crowder
In the late 1980s Pillsbury single-handedly made regular cake obsolete for children across America by introducing Funfetti cake mix a white cake with multicolored sprinkles in the batter not just to decorate the top. It quickly became the cake that defined childhood. And although Pillsbury trademarked the name Funfetti it has become synonymous with colorful sprinkles much as Band-Aid is synonymous with Band-Aids.
Sarah Crowder our art director and a child of the '80s and '90s echoes this sentiment. "I grew up loving Funfetti cake but none of those formative experiences involved making a homemade cake. To me a confetti cake is a box cake. It's that rare example where instead of the box mix trying to mimic a homemade cake all the recipes for making confetti cake at home try their best to match the flavor of the mixes."
