Are you a fruitcake lover? Although this traditional festive cake is often criticized (I guess some people don't like candied fruit?) it is delicious when prepared properly.
This fruitcake is our family favorite loaded with dates walnuts raisins and glazed cherries. Think raisin bread on steroids. The recipe comes from the wife of a family friend Patricia who sent us a loaf for Christmas for years.
We usually have to make at least two loaves: one to eat right away because we can't wait and the other to drizzle with brandy and save for Christmas. These loaves also make great gifts.
