Unlike most coastal towns in Sri Lanka, Batticaloa does not rely heavily on tourism and the lack of tourist activities made it clear that we decided to explore the town.
Still, with some local information and connections, we were able to cover some of the city's main highlights by boat and visit a loom factory during our stay.
