How to prepare asparagus on the grill using an aluminum foil steam bag

The grilling method is pretty simple. Preheat your grill to 400 F. While that is heating begin your food prep. First cut a piece of foil. The foil should have a large rim that is large enough to completely cover the foiled asparagus with room to spare. Brush the foil with your favorite cooking oil of choice. Olive oil tastes great. Avocado oil also works here because it is a heat stable oil. Use your hands to spread the oil over the foil to create a thin even layer across the aluminum.

For perfect asparagus start with thick stalks. They do better on the grill than their thin counterparts. Trim off the woody ends and lay them on the foil. Then season the vegetables. You can find pre-made grilling spices at the store but if you’re a well-stocked foodie it’s best to just raid your own spice cabinet.
