0h00 Introduction: Dermatitis
0:38 Types of dermatitis
1:42 How dermatitis is usually treated
2:38 The best natural remedy for dermatitis
4:35 Benefits of vitamin D

In this video we are going to talk about dermatitis. Dermatitis refers to inflammation of the skin and there are many different types.

Basically, skin problems are linked to either an allergy or an immune reaction. Many cases of dermatitis can be seen as an overreactive immune system.

Topical and oral steroids are the most common treatments for dermatitis. They work by suppressing the immune system. Antibiotics are also commonly used to treat cases of dermatitis, but often lead to secondary infection.

The surface layer of your skin contains a multitude of microbes and acts as a barrier for your lymphatic tissue and blood vessels. These tissues are full of immune cells ready to protect you against foreign invaders.

Dermatitis appears to respond positively to vitamin D. For example, vitamin D alleviates the symptoms of contact dermatitis by reducing the histamine response. Vitamin D is the main regulator of the immune system.

Skin conditions are usually worse in winter, when we consume less vitamin D. They also get worse when a person is stressed. When you increase cortisol levels due to stress, you deplete vitamin D.

Vitamin D can reduce acne by shrinking and normalizing the oil glands. This can help regulate overproduction of sebum, thereby reducing acne breakouts. Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp is also known as dandruff. Vitamin D cream can help reduce dandruff.

Eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, and alopecia are all linked to vitamin D deficiency. The microbes involved in some skin problems can reduce your skin's vitamin D receptors, allowing them to survive.
