The vegan city of the world!
And indeed Google confirms the huge rise of veganism worldwide. In 2018 searches in the Vegan category which includes vegan-related searches in any language (e.g. “veganism” “vegan restaurants” “vegan recipes”) far exceeded searches in previous years. The popularity of vegan-related searches was up 11% compared to 2017 and up 35% compared to 2016.
We used Google Trends data to compare the popularity of veganism worldwide. Google assigns a score to each location (broken down by country and city) that reflects the level of interest in a particular topic by comparing searches for that topic to all Google searches performed in that specific location.
For example if Google assigns a score of 100 to Australia for searches for veganism and a score of 78 to the United States this means that the percentage of Australians searching for veganism is much higher than the percentage of Americans searching for the same topic.
