There are certain foods that are so difficult to cut that I sometimes pass them up for that reason alone. These include most types of pumpkin (due to their awkward size and often rock-hard flesh) and artichokes because of their razor-sharp spines. Unfortunately there is one delicious fruit that is both unwieldy and prickly: pineapple. I still buy them with reluctance but I have yet to master the art of breaking them off.
