Are themed restaurants trashy? Yes sometimes. Can they also be fun? Absolutely! Some themed restaurants rely on the “wow” factor while others embrace the trashiness and they work best when the customers are willing to embrace the trashiness too. The atmosphere and the experience are what these places are really all about. Many offer unique landscaping or have cool memorabilia on display. Others have gift shops full of must-have trinkets and branded merchandise. As a bonus most themed restaurants are great for kids which can be a huge relief if you have fidgety little ones with short attention spans.

Foreign Fast Food Chains in the US Ranked from Worst to Best

Whether you’re planning a road trip or just want something different for dinner there are plenty of themed restaurant chains to visit in the United States. From pop culture-themed restaurants to unique seafood restaurants and even places that offer a full-on show with your meal there’s something for everyone. Below we’ve ranked the themed restaurant chains in the US from worst to best based on Google reviews so you’ll know exactly where to go the next time you’re in the mood for a fun (and maybe a little tacky) dining experience.

Planet Hollywood is a Hollywood-themed restaurant chain. The first location opened in New York City in 1991 and the chain quickly expanded. Each restaurant featured famous movie props and costumes including Dorothy's dress from "The Wizard of Oz" and a replica of Dracula's castle from the movie "Dracula." Unfortunately the chain filed for bankruptcy in the mid-1990s after going public. It currently has three locations in the U.S.: one at Disney Springs in Orlando Florida; one at Los Angeles International Airport; and a hotel in Las Vegas. A fourth location is set to open in New York City soon.

The Orlando location is the largest with four floors of live entertainment a 4500-square-foot video wall showing music videos and 3-D animations and memorabilia including costumes and props from "Star Wars" and various superhero films. It has an average Google rating of 4.1 stars and many customers say they had a fun experience. Favorite dishes include the Bacon Mac-n-Cheese Burger and the Prime Time American Kobe Burger both created by Guy Fieri. Negative reviews mention cold food undercooked food and even food poisoning.
